7th & 8th July 2007 - Robots Live! Exeter

Robots Live! are pleased to announce what will be our 3rd major event of
2007 held at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Exeter. This is the first show
inside the west country, and working on our previous shows this is going to
be an un-missable event.

Show 1: Sat 7th: 6pm
Show 2: Sun 8th: 12pm
Show 3: Sun 8th: 3pm

Food will be provided on the Sunday between shows.
As we appreciate most people will be travelling a long way, we are supplying
free camping to roboteers on the Saturday night (one pitch per team) and
depending on tickets a contribution towards travel costs.

Thanks to the generosity of Stanley tools, we now two prizes up for grabs.

The winners of the heavy and feather weight competitions will both receive a tool box full of Stanley tools, adding up to a value of £250 each.

Guys me being able to get to this event is hit and miss. I am fine getting down to the event as teh mega train is running. However getting back to bradford on the sunday seems to be very difficult.
If some one is heading back towards the yorkshire area I would very much apreciate a lift.
It is looking like though that I can not go as I would have just moved into my new house and I will be going to Brazil a few weeks later.
Life of a student is tough.

I am really sorry but I wont be able to make this event as the distance makes getting back home with David having school the next day a nightmare.

I still intend seeing you at Hemel on 1/2 September.

Theres a nice new Maplins across the road from the venue thats just opened up so we should be sorted for spare bits

Can someone going to this event possibly lend me a LED for my robot, as mine was broken at guildford after lending it to another roboteer. I will order a new one, but as Technobots (the supplier of my LEDs) wont take orders less than £10, I cant order it.

Antony: for a new LED its £2.63 from Technobots

Ewan: Im afraid I am running my robot on 24v, so an 18v LED is not gonna handle it (although some of the more educated people may tell me different, can LEDs handle more than they are rated ?)

I have a 12v LED that handles 24v but i dont think its advisable. The only other option is that you can put a resistor inline with the led so the led gets 18v instead of 24v .

Well the panel mount ones with built-in resistor can usually take a few more volts but stick an additional resistor in series to be safe at 24v - quite helpfully as Dave pointed out earlier apparently theres a maplins across the road :)

since there is a maplins arcoss the road, they sell 12volt leds.
