My robot is harder than yours!!

i was thinking the other day, that there are some robots i reckon i can have, and others i think i simply could not beat for whatever reason.

my robot is wheely big cheese, and i reckon, 9 out of 10 times i could beat hypnodisc (i know, he beat wbc before) in a 1 on 1, or supernova, or tough as nails, but I think i could not do anything about tanto, storm2, or mute. 50% of fights i recon id have razer, but only on rough floors, but warhead would get me everytime. Nightmare (american) would be toast, but biohazzard would thrash me. Funny how id be really confident of these outcomes, having never actually fought them myself.

what do others think? just a fun, and lighthearted thing i was thinking about one day.

Personally, I reckon I have Scorpion Evilution more or less licked and I would imagine I could have Little Spinner in much the same way although Ive never actually taken it on yet.
Maybe its because I know Scorp far too well and fought it far too often and have made a special point of studying LS every time it goes into the arena.

I would love to tell everyone my pet hates but I dont want to give the game away to the opposition :lol:

i think razer is far to manoverable for you james. however wbc and kan-opener would be interesting.

thinking about it. if i bring venom back to events i wouldnt mind a pop at scorpian evil :)

& with predator id love to fight ploughbot but that wont happen lol

Venom vs. Evil? Venom wont just go pop James..... try skreeeee, cheoooooong, crack, and other gut-wrenching sounds that I wont even attempt to spell :)

maybe one day we shall see :). considering you would go straight up the wedge without hiting anything except maybe an 8mm ti plate hmmm... venom likes flat bots. you never know, it would be interesting

Pillow would ride straight up the wedge - but Im talking about Evil - it would be interesting to see if that disc just rides up the wedge or not and what it would do when it reaches the top as there is no going straight over Venom - theres something in the way :wink:

yup an 8mm ti plate. then behind that the arm.

would be interesting. i doubt anything would happen to the wedge as its very shallow and its hardend steel so a fast disc wouldnt do anything. however what happens when it gets to the top would be interesting. you never know, if Venom fights competitively we shall find out.

40kj of energy Geoff? As my team mate Ed told you at Colchester I will fight scorpion if given the chance with Turbulence. And yeah I am crazy :) Would be a fun fight. Hopefully we will get a chance to fight it out at the UK champs:) Will be a good test of the new armour.

There is no harm in trying - anything can happen in that arena - a fight is there for the winning right up until the word cease.
If I lose but go down fighting then Im satisfied.

i did say on a rough floor JC, so if you can convince Ian to let me take Razer on with wbc, ill get the football field booked. you should see wbc on grass, its the coolest lawn mower.

We can resolve this though, you have a mini razer, i have a mini wheely big cheese. see where im going with that one? :)

i recon turbulance would have scorpion, but evil, or pillow, could have venom anyday.

any thoughts?

Is a case of manoeverability, driving and toughness of armour.
Storm 2/Razer is difficult to call and will depend upon who makes the 1st mistake. I would give it to Razer on driving but Storm 2 on its toughness and durability.
Hypnodisc/Razer - Razer without a doubt. Ians driving would easily outclass Hypnos destructive power.
Warhead/Storm 2 - I give it to Storm 2 without a doubt based upon the fact that Warhead has the tendancy to want to take flight every time it hits something (Newtons 3rd law of motion). Storm 2 is far more controllable and will recover quickly to take advantage of Warheads total vulnerability after a hit.

put as many gadgets and whiz bangs in ur robots as u like theres nothing like being hit by a solid lump of 30hp titanium and steel, now 2/3rds quicker and sporting a weapon.

Ah, but what a lot of you forget is that sometimes its not a question of cutting through armour, but either tearing it clean off its mountings by shearing bolts or spliting welds or failing that, being able to impart such a severe shock to the other robot that something vital is damaged.

ye its never the case that a machine loses because its armour has a rip in it (unless its a judges decision of cause). something always gives in high impacts. thats why you dont really need all this super armour. maybe best to have something weak as when it does give it soaks up the energy of a weapon rather than hitting something solid that will send a shock through your electronics.

best to rubber mount as much as possible, it could save you!

Ive seen John Frizzells robot Suprise stand up well to Scorpion Evil - and all it has for armour is MDF. The secret is that the insides are solidly mounted and can withstand the massive shock.
In Pillow Torques case its not just about speed and tough armour, its the fact that its solidily built inside as well as out with ways to disperse the shock of high impacts as well as absorb them. It has to be able to stand up to what it can dish out - and more.

a lot of people have opinions on armour, most of which is regergatated second hand rubbish.

basically, hard armour works, soft armour works, but then sometimes it doesnt.
either way, if its held on securely it works, if its loose, it doesnt, but then sometimes this is the other way around.

the whole armour thing means nothing its how its mounted. id rather have a gash than a panel off anyday.
