Weve had a feather called Maximus (if you can call 17kg a feather). It was built for Channel 4 for the show Making It. Pic here: http://www.teammad.co.uk/maximus.jpghttp://www.teammad.co.uk/maximus.jpg
Maximum was a standby robot that was brough in to replace another bot at the last moment in filming - but I cant remember what the event was.
Was a Cassius II clone if I remember

Brutus Maximus was a wooden robot in Series 7. sacrificed itself agains a Dutch Spinner in round 1.
From what I remember, Pussycat also happened to it quite extensively.
It probly doesnt matter but there was a SHW called Maximus at BattleBots and is now called Blue Max at RFL events

There is a micromouse called Maximus that ran at MINOs 06 last month, but I dont he will mind if a fighting robot used the same name.
MAXIMUS IT IS THEN, HOPEFULLY THEY WONT MIND...
Havent people just gave you reasons not to use it?

Are you on about V-Max that replaced Onslaught in the last heat of RW4, by any chance, Ed?
Anyway, Adrian - You could tip your hat to the pythoners and call it Naughtius Maximus...
Have to agree with David here - havent a load of people have just given you a number of reasons not to call it Maximus.... so how come the response that ok then Ill go with it ?
Just curious as to logic

i know of brutus maximus which isnt the same name, ok so theirs a micromouse called maximus, the other maximus is now called blue max, so i cant see where the problem is, unless they have copyright, team mad dont have a maximus on their website so does that robot even exist anymore? if it does no prob.

Maximus has never been part of team mad. Its http://www.teamgladiator.co.ukwww.teamgladiator.co.uk
Because a robot doesnt fight any more doesnt realy mean you can use the name.

I agree with Dave.
If someone started using a name i have used (Major Tom, Armadrillo or Zero) I would be pretty annoyed.
The name of a robot becomes associated with the team members and things that have happened to that robot in the past.
I can appreciate that you want the name you have thought of but if its already taken by someone previously then unfortunatly that bad luck.
Try to think of something similar.
There was a Venom before my machine and a predator. however they havent fought in years and arnt that well known machines either. My logic thought is that there arnt any maximuss on the combat scene at the moment and there havent been for a while (if ever). Dave is yours a running competitor? if nay then i cant really see the dispute as adrian isnt jumping on somebody elses image if you know what i mean?
just my 2 cents but if i were you adrian i would think of another name anyway as it may only cause you grief
thats what i think, im not trying to upset any1,if i knew of another heavyweight or a robot that mite attend the same events as me then obviously i would have something different, its just the name that came with the design etc....if it was a well known robot such as razer, chaos2 etc.... then of course i wouldnt use it, to be honest i wish i never asked and just went with wot i wanted, or can any1 got any suggestions to go with maximus!!!
the other thing also is does any1 say anything when somebody designs and builds a robot that is exactly like something well known, i mean ive seen a nasty version of razer for example.... this is just a question out of curiosity, i dont want to be taken the wrong way,
How about gluteus maximus
A nasty version oh Razer hey lol
it wasnt a featherweight was it? *crosses fingers* lol
gluteus, thats a muscle in the buttock, lol, i like it
im trying to remember where i saw it, it was awful...... must of been televised, im not sure
Well theres only so many designs of robots you can do so in the end theres bound to be some that look the same shape but are different if you get me. As for the name I would do what you want, just add another work before or after it like mentioned... You cant always please everyone with what you do!
at least the name wont alter the carnage im hoping to create:uhoh:
Was the name of the nasty Razer Tiberious?
i honestly cant remember, all i remember was it looked like razer but its weapon looked like it couldnt puncture a wet paper bag, but then again if you make the effort to have a try you get my vote
Not Tiberious then, that can do some good damage.
The New Tiberious Is Brillant Can Go Through 4mm Hardox
That is impressive, from what I remember Razer couldnt pierce thin-ish Titanium.
lol razers a good machine, I wouldnt feel happy fighting it with my 4mm hardox and 3mm titanium...i *think* its power is around the same as tiberious.
The ram in Razer is bigger than the one in Tiberious . At least on the outside. The ram in Tiberious IV is rather custom build. And is in fact a lot smaller than an commercial equivalent.
if I recall correctly its a 70*148 or a 50*148 .
to keep the piece,im calling my heavyweight demolition ive searched and searched on alot of search engines and cant find any bot called this, lets hope no one knows of one called this!!, then again knowing my luck!!! see you at an event soon
Well there was demolition Man...
LOL Hear we go again!!
:angry::angry::angry:
And there was Demolition Demon as well (series 1 or 2 I think) but I dont even know if it still exists so it shouldnt be much of a problem in itself.
Why not go for a name like Chaos 2 or Razer or something - very cool names that I dont think anyone has used yet :crazy:
Lots of sarcastic people around today... :)
last time we saw Demolition Man was series 6.
I believe it left for the scrap bin as it had been disembowelled by a hydraulic robot.
For the record Razer has about 3 tons force on the tip.
trouble is im trying too hard to think of a name! i need a name cos uk championships isnt too far away, wot about the robot with no name:crazy:,
