Fantasy Robot Wars

As part of my website relaunch, due very soon, Id like to introduce this to you. (This text is off my website update)

FANTASY ROBOT WARS
Here are RWZ, we are running a fantasy competition to find the Robot Wars champion. The prize is a CD-ROM or DVD containing various battles from Robot Wars, including several of the finals. It is currently under construction and more details will follow soon.

To take part, pick 20 of the 50 below, and send them to my email address (cardiff4@netster.com). Once you have sent in your robots, an simulated tournament will take place, and I will post regular results on this website. Anything can happen, so dont just pick the bigger names.

The competition will start in around mid-May. Good luck!

how is this gonna work if people are entering 20 of the 50 robots

I think he means when enough people have entered, the 20 most picked machines will be used.

The rules are that the twenty robots which are selected will be used in the fantasy torunament by each player. The better your choices do, the more points you score:

Heat Final- 15 Pts
Semi Final Melee Qualifier- 25 Pts
Semi Final Round 2 Winner- 40 Pts
4th Place- 45 Pts
3rd Place- 65 Pts
Runner Up- 85 Pts
Winner- 100 Pts

The player with the most points will win the fantasy competition.

Also, if this is successful enough, I might do this more often.

Im having a few troubles with the DVD, any ideas for a good prize (be serious, and it must be robot related)

Does anyone have video footage that I could you to make the DVD (e.g finals, major matches)on a computer file?

On the DVD will currently be the 3rd, 4th and 6th Wars Finals.

Here is the format for the competition:

The 50 robots will be split into 5 groups of 10, from a random draw. The battles begin with two 5-way melees, with 4 from each surviving. Then it is straight knockout until 2 teams are left.

The semis will contain 10 robots, half in each. The final will contain two from each semi-final.

The deadline for entries is tommorrow morning at 6am. I will then announce the groups which I have chosen at random for the fantasy tornament.

Well, you cant have a toruny without predictions ya know...

GROUP 1
101 has the least effective weaponary of these guys, so they go out. Tornado is too strong pushing wise, Mortis and Terrorhurtz have those nasty axes, and Ming 3s a good bot too.

GROUP 2
Depends which Major Tom youre using. If its the S7 one, it will go out. If its the S6 one, it will probably be King B or SMIDSY out. Hypno-disc may also have a worry...its blade could get clogged up by Diotoirs fur.

GROUP 3
I see M2 going through no matter what. Who goes through with it is anyones guess, as 259 has no srimech, Gemini is too lightweight, Chaos 2 is too powerful, and Thermidor has weak armour.

GROUP 4
Unless Wheely Big Cheese or Behemoth breaks down, I see either Napalm, Mousetrap or Roadblock going out...whoever is flipped over first.

GROUP 5
I see a grudge match between Panic Attack and Kronic 2. Dominator should go through, and I think either Splinter to be torn apart or Supernova to knock itself out.

GROUP 6
I think Sir Chromalot is the most likely to go out. Atomic, Bulldog Breed and Firestorm have good flippers...and who can forget S3s disc.

GROUP 7
I hate Stinger, Suicidal Tendencies is unreliable...one of these two will go out. Mega Morg, Typhoon 2 and Bigger Brother are too good.

GROUP 8
I sense ANOTHER grudge, this time between Razer and Aggrobot. Plunderbird 5 will lose, as it has no srimech and weak armour...perfect for Spawn Again and Steel Avenger to attack.

GROUP 9
Whilst I think X-Terminator and Pussycat will survive, Im not sure about the others. Grim Reaper cant finish its foes off, and 3 Stegs 2 Heaven and 13 Black are unreliable...

GROUP 10
Dantomkia and Storm 2 to survive, Wild Thing will outlast them all, and I think if St Agro can just avoid the blade, Fluffy will break down or something.

There, Ive mentioned all 50 robots.

Well Im pleased to announce the first two heat results. The others will be announced every Friday.

I have changed the battles so that it is annihilator style, the first to go out gives you nothing, and the others give 2, 3, 5 and 15 points depending on their finish.

HEAT 1
Ming 3, Mortis, Terrorhurtz, 101, Tornado

The first battle never took place as Mortis broke down before the battle. In the second, 101 was pushed by Tornado into Growlers jaws, where serious damage occured. In the third, Ming didnt stand a chance but put up a good fight for a judges desicion. The heat final, and Terrorhurtz kept bashing the top of Tornado and won via the judges.

HEAT 2
Major Tom, SMIDSY, King B Powerworks, Diotoir, Hypno-disc

Major Tom were almost destroyed by Hypno-disc devastating disc, followed by a flaming Diotoir in the second battle. SMIDSY failed to start the third battle, and in the final, Hypno-disc felt the power of Mr Psycho, which caused damage inside the bot, meaning a loss for them.

Good point about Major Tom Chris. Being that im in The Major Tom team which Major was it? Either way funny to hear the outcome lol.

What was Major Tom like in S7? I cant say I remember it.

Series 6 was the Bumper car that everyone remembers. S7 was invertable wedge with 2 suicidal Tendancies style grabbing arms on the front. Was nicely damaged by Exterminator and then flipped out by Tsunami in the first round of the heat.
Henry got bored with being known to have the Bumper Car and wanted to build something a bit more seroius. Thats why at Extreme 2 in the Annialator when he got down to the final 3 with Thermidor and (Doh mental block- yellow bot with grabbing pincers), he asked them not to flip him Out but to leave the Bumper Car to the house robots.
They did as asked and the house robots destroyed the bumper car.

So now you know :)

Ooh. I just thought they were being really evil for no apparent reason. The house robots that is.

Youre thinking of Kan Opener. The bot with possibly the wierdist battle record ever.

Its true, that Kan-opener has a really weird battle record, the fact that it can survive a 6 robot battering but never gets past the first round. I think theyve just been unlucky in that respect.

Make that Two 6 robot batterings.

Yeah, something like 12-0 in annihilators, yet 0-3 in the wars.

Im currently working on the video for the winner of the tornament. All video clips with battles are accepted and welcomed. More results tommorrow morning.

Arent there meant to be some more results by now, either that or the robots have taken part in an endurance battle :)
