FRA World Championships
Middleweights will feature in the other competitions section of the event and most likely on the Saturday. This is due to there not being enough middleweights to run a full heat based competition. Phantom Events

You can never have too many flippers.
Having been and looked at my pile of midweight bits im confident that i can have it put together for august.
-
FRA World Championships
I hope that Ill be ready too but the design is going into entirely new territory for me.
You can have too many spinners though (1 or more)
-
FRA World Championships
are we the only spinners in the middleweight battle unless Typhoon turns up??

I cant imagine Typhoon staying away from an event like this. Lets recap.
Me (flipper)
Blazer (flipper)
Cereal Box Killer (spinner)
Steel Sandwich (lifter)
Typhoon (spinner)
Andrew (?)
Phoenix (lifter)
Alan (flipper)
Have I missed anyone or put in twice by robot and roboteer? Few are certainties so we should regard this list as provisional plus foreign machines may arrive.
-
FRA World Championships
rampage (flipper) well fingers crossed we should be there

FRA World Championships
Got my e mail from Ed. Its game on for RAF Newton. Just that little matter of assembling a robot.
It would be nice if others could confirm themselves. Theres a scarily short 12th June deadline.
-
FRA World Championships
i got an email, blazer will be there.
-
FRA World Championships
I have also received an email from Ed confirming that we are accepted. Steel Sandwich will be there.
It would be good if everyone who has been confirmed would post here to say so. This would give us an idea of how big the middleweight event will be. The email I got said: The format for Middleweights has yet to be decided - however we
are hoping to make it more than just one big fight during the competition and have some sort of structured format to the competition. What sort of structure that will be will depend on the number of middleweights.
So if you are comming, let us all know.

FRA World Championships
Kyle was very unsure about Phoenix, something to do with having a real life, whatever that is!
The horrid spinning metal lampshade will be there, I have no doubt.
-
FRA World Championships
Which middleweights are actually signed up to go to RAF Newton?
-
FRA World Championships
The only ones who have posted here to say they are coming are Julian (robot name unknown), Blazer and Steel Sandwich. If there is anyone else who has applied, and received a confirmation email, I suggest they post below so we can all see who is coming.
-
FRA World Championships
I wont Be there with the MID unfortunatly i have come accross a problem with the design of it but i dont have time to rebuild and build the new heavy.
-
FRA World Championships
Having not entered the Mouse for the heavyweight competition, I might set about the chassis with the drill and see if I can get it down to 50kg.
At Technogames4 it weighed in at 55kg, but it didnt have the front blade on. I will not enter formally until I am certain I can make the weight.

FRA World Championships
Trevor, the deadline was the 12th, ie 2 days ago.

FRA World Championships
Ive had a succession of family disasters over the last few months to the effect that the only way to be able to attend the World Championships is to switch to plan B. The gas flipper will have to wait until next time and the ill fated Broadsword 2 will have to fill in as Broadsword III, the bits of Broadsword that Shunt didnt bust at Extreme 2 plus a rethoughtout design of the bits that Shunt did. Im disappointed that I couldnt give the new machine my full attention but there are certain events which should only happen every so often in life and the arrival of the fourth of these events in six months, following on a fortnight after the third, really has thrown a spanner in the works.

Broadsword III will be fun still, especially at 36v. 2.4 kW of drive power in a middleweight.
Lifestylewise, I should hit clear water sometime in September.

FRA World Championships
Well, just make it the toughest you can. My advice, though laymans like, is design to beat Mad Dog. Horrible horrible ICE spinner. If you can take a hit, and keep coming back at him, youll be laughing.
Falcon, the drumbot, is mean as well. Is Broadsword invertable?
Good luck!

FRA World Championships
last email i got with MW attending were;
Symbiont
GreenMeanie
Blazer
Steel Sandwich
(to be decided)
Black & Blue
Falcon
Spin Doctor

Mad Dog is comming over because Brian has been telling everyone on the american forums that its ready for the Uk comp. Ill post the new pics of Mad Dog in a min or two.

FRA World Championships
Yep Mad Dog is all ready to kick some UK ass (thats Brians quote not mine) and looking quite mean with some new mods and now weighing in at around 46Kg (afaik). Also just to add insult to injury the team hopes that Mad Dog will survive so he can challeng some of the UK heavyweights with it as well!

Good to see that there are 8 entries in the middleweight class. Any more?

hi all
symbionts mine, its basically a flipper style robot built in a rush, 2 hi power wheel chair motors run at 24 volts, steel and ally construction. its a smaller version of my heavyweight which is still in construction.
-
FRA World Championships
whats the specs of the flipper, any pics?
-
FRA World Championships
The undercutter design of Mad Dog looks interesting. Is there a ball castor or similar under the blade? Its hard to tell from the photo. Does anyone out there know?
-
FRA World Championships
As far as i know Mad Dog still runs on a rounded point like a ball castor so its bar is close to the ground.
Just as a teaser ive dug up a video of a battle between Mad Dog and Killjoy a full body spinner armed in 1.5mm titanium with 12mm 7075 T6 aluminium supports.
