Okay not really fame but still nice to see little old M2 in print. Its in issues 65 & 66 of the Real Robots mag. They even included a plug for the FRA and Technobots as well. What nice people they are.

I saw that about M2, it is a great machine.
*Wonders who is in issue 67*
Other than Ripper, its the only decent Low Pressure Flipper, Ive ever had an awareness of seeing.
Thought Ripper was High Pressure?
Nope, low pressure.
yeah, its low pressure flipper with two rams which has the same power as a high pressure flipper but uses less gas
M2 famous?
well actually yea Paul youve become abit famous
my neighbour has 3 kids all of which love robot wars 2 say M2 is there favourite
I dunno no taste really
mind you the 3rd said dantomkia so I refered him to a shrink
Craig, you are really reallg going to suffer for that.
Mike.
Craig, your neighbour wasnt the buyer who paid £19.51 for a Dantomkia pullback on Ebay last week was it because they certainly needed to a see a shrink?
Paul
Paul, is your interview thingie in Real Robots over 2 or 3 issues?
anyone who bought a dantomkia toy needs to see a shrink
paul and Craig. Neither of you is nice.
Mike.
you know you love us really
at brighton Paul gave you a wheel and I gave you a room to wreck
yeh, you do have a point there. Ok, you are both forgiven.
Just found someones nicked your Monicker:

Rob, it comes to mind that you must have either a very lonely and or sick mind to notice that. However, seeing as you are into agriculture etc I can only assume that you think that the new found M2 is some form of fantastic futuristic carrot nicker.
Start getting out more and see that there is life out of your cow shed.
Mike.
Man, that sounded bitter...
fight fight fight.......
My god - that was bitter!!!
Mike has given up the evil weed - please forgive him........
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible - well as normal as it can be for him.
normal and mikey in the same sentence? cmon.. gimme a break! *giggles*
Right Mikey, behave yourself! Youre much better than that! dont let a couple of brats get to ya, they havent met me, so they dont know what im ahem capable to do to them!
As for giving up the evil weed... well... no comment on that one, but hey, good for ya, myself unfortunately, Id rather kill someone before giving up that stuff!
 yes, I have no will power! *sobs*
This is the evil weed taker victim doing one of her rants, get used to it! :lame:
Audy you cant give up the evil weed you are the evil weed :):):)
I do hope that Rob doesnt think that I was being rude to him. He knows me too well for that.
Mike.
PS, still giving up the weed. Tis a hard hard thing that I do.
got a hide like a rhino me mike, didnt notice you might have been rude till someone else pointed it out... even then, couldnt really see it, usually when people are being rude to me they are shouting a lot of very short words... mind you thats never bothered me much either.
Shame about Worthing, was looking forward to it, catch you at Modelworld.
im concentrating on Dalek building myself.
You might want to contact Jon Reason. He is also building a Dalek. Also an R2D2. Both look very good.
Mike.
PS, Model World is a go. Cant remember the dates.
18 - 20 Feb 2005
Well, M2 has been retired to the scrap metal bin but at last, Im building a new one - M2XT.
See http://www.m2xt.nethttp://www.m2xt.net for first pictures of build. Im not going to go mad building it as Im not going to Dublin but most of the hard work is already done. I will spend some time lightening the gearboxes etc and start assembly over the next few weeks. Looking forward to seeing you all on the circuit again.
Paul
looking good, cant wait to let Merlin have a play!
Looks like a good strong update on the tried and tested design.
Paul, why did you decide on the ram activated ball valve instead of a solenoid valve?
Philip, I wanted the highest peformance solution. The valve has a flow rate equivalent to over twenty 1/2 Burkert type solenoid valves or four 1 solenoid valves. Another problem with solenoid valves is their opening times, typically 0.5 to 2 seconds, I will be opening the ball valve in 20-30mS. End result is maximum flow rates in the shortest possible time which probably means self-destruction but you have to try :)
Paul
I like the pink armour!
Theres hope yet :)
Now youve done it Paul, Philip will have a pneumatically operated ball valve on his FP featherweight now :proud: Im deading the House of Carnage weekend
Pink! thats hardox rust. Talking about pink armour, Ive just ordered a pink Zeobot shell for my daughter, what is it with girls and pink?
Youre not a girl so you wouldnt know. Check my profile for an idea of my new look that will probably debut at Brighton.
I also hereby use my perogative as a girl to change my mind at very short notice......now where did I put those bunny ears? :)
Oh no.... Karoline in Sailor Moon style....
That would cost a fortune in plastic chirugy.
On the other side, I can imagine you would have a following of drooling boys.
Paul, why the choise for a dual pressure system? You need low pressure to operate the ballvalve.
Isnt that a pity of the weight?
Also, with the size of the ram compared to the buffertanks, I think a valve like that, with the 22mm let trough overall, youre not winning much compared to 2 burkerts parallel.
Oh well, it will work beautifully.
And I still think the next generation of sremechs will be augmented with gyrostabilizers, steering fins, parachutes and trusters.
Mario, yes the ball valve system weighs more than a single solenoid valve but performance is many fold greater - so worth the weight. I have run many calculations optimising flowrate, buffer tanks and geometry and this set-up offers by far a better performance than two Burkerts but it is only theory. We will just have to wait and see what happens in practice. Did I mention it is also variable pressure, I can set the flipper pressure from 10 to 50 bar from the transmitter during the fight - so I get lots of M2 flips at lower pressures or a few Gravity style flips when I want them.
Gravity III had a lot of flips in it. Thanks to the use of buffertanks, and the measures undertaken not to inject liquid in the ram itself.
The use of 2 2 kg bottles didnt hurt in itself either. But that took needed space and weight.
But the adjustable power can come in handy, when running in less than all out arenas.
Looking good!
Geez that bending jig mustve been strong...
Back to things pink.......
Mario youre right - I didnt know you were a Sailor Moon fan?. Anyway my version will be like Chibi Usagi from HELL!
