does anyone know if australia put in a robot??
Im almost sure they did not. I dont remember one.
No they didnt.
The coutries competing are:
SRI LANKA
AUSTRIA
IRELAND
SOUTH AFRICA
BELGIUM
NEW ZEALAND
GERMANY
CANADA
SWITZERLAND
NETHERLANDS
UNITED KINGDOM
Note that they didnt make seperate England Scotland Wales entries.
thats cus there not important enough...)
I think Chris should be head of International Relations for the FRA :)
u think lol :)
Leo, you forgot that american robot.
You know, the one with the dangerous blade that didnt work.
What about Sweden? Im not absolutely sure, but I think a Swedish team competed with a robot named http://217.215.43.121/robot/>
Hi
What irish robot was it?
One Diotoir clan or what?
Regards
Ian Mc Donald
You are right, Rawbot did fight for Sweden, and for the US there was Spartacus. I didnt see them in the listing so i overlooked them. My apologies.
Who knows whos in it though
(no spoilers please)
but who competeted
we know (well i think i know)
the top 3 bots of sereis 7,
crushtacean, supernova, sparticus...
who else?
Lets see.....Super Nova, Spartacus, Crushtacean and Hard are through, also the top 3 in the UK Robot Wars championship will be there (I dont know who they are) & thats all I know.
For the Netherlands the Dutch Robot Wars 2002-2003 Champion was Pullverizer, so he got in automatically. The following 3 Dutch robots had to fight qualifiers for being the second Dutch representative: Gravity, Tough As Nails and Scraptosaur.
I know the following robots were either fighting qualifier fights or simply representing their countries:
Another American: Flippa.
New Zealand: Riptilion
Austria: Mechaniac
Germany: Ansgar
Canada: Terror Turtle
UK: Tornado, being champion of Series 6
Flippa, Riptillion, and Mechaniac are all out.
so is Top-bot
Are there any battlebots in there this time round? I know such pointless speculation is unhelpful, but Id like to see Biohazard mop the floor with other international entries. :)
Other battlebots that should pay robot wars a visit are:
Mauler (they were disqualified last time for being too dangerous!)
MechaVore (perhaps the most powerful heavyweight horizontal spinner ever)
FrenZy (tough to kill!)
Matador (check out the flipper)
Vlad 2 (An old hand improved, recently lost to spitfire ,a.k.a. Dantomkia)
All the so - called contract obligations between the two tournaments i find confusing. For instance, killerhurtz seemed to travel between the two unmodified for quite some time.
Im sure many of the UK teams would love to go against US combat robots of that standard, but most are contracted to robotwars (they cant go to battlebots) and the US bot are contrated to battlebots (they cant go to robotwars).
So there is no high standard US bots in this world championship...
Killerhurtz is almost retired as far as I can tell, and they now have Beta (US) and Terrorhutz (UK).
Cheers for that Ewan, im more clear on that now. Although i have to say those irritating obligations are spoiling some great fights. Also, does anyone know whether Beta has actually competed in battlebots yet?
Plus id like to know where all the US bots we normally see in Robot Wars come from, if not battlebots. I could swear i saw Phrizbee once disguised as the revolutionist, although it was quickly chomped by Razer. :)
Many of the US robots that come to robotwars, have not yet been in battlebots, thus not being contracted and then able to compete in RW.
Beta has been to battlebots, but a problem with the magnets on the base (they keep beta from jumping around when using the hammer) meant that they couldnt actually compete.
I see now thanks
One problem with US bots coming to the UK is the
arena.
The BattleBots arena for example has a steel floor
and as such the bots tend to be designed with a
steel floor in mind.
If the same bots were put in the UK with the wooden floor it would not be strong enough to hold them.
On the RW forum the Razer team were asked why
they don,t use Warhead in UK Robot Wars, one
of the problem,s sited were the arena floor being
wooden.Infact Ian,s very words were no bloody way
Yeah I saw the way Warhead can spin away after hitting something, and that would probably chop the floor to pieces. And of course the walls would probably disintergrate as well if they hit them.
frenZy is a Battlebot and competed in the War of Independance during series 4, i think Ramstein did as well
Yup Karl i can confirm it did fight, and lost in its first and only fight to panic attack. very good performance from PA, they piggy backed the superheavyweight and then slowly eased it into the pit and made it look very easy.
There was also a panic attack V mortis decision that was incredibly dubious, but considering the beating frenZy given PA at battlebots (and the winner took on frenZy next) they made a good decision.
Dont forget Ramstein had been stripped down in order to make the weight grade.
In what way, exactly. To me, it looked the same as the Superheavyweight robot, what exactly did they do?
Yes Frank please do tell.
Im not sure of the exact details, but I know it was lighter in the WOI than it is in Battlebots. It didnt seem as nippy across the arena, so maybe they used a lighter drive. Plus Im guessing thinner armour, or at least armour that was made of something lighter.
Rammstein was always a very light SHW, only just over the limit for the heavyweights.
Its weapon was originally a pneumatic spike. I think they removed the gas bottles and just entered RW with a static spike.
Sorry to hark on about it but what happened to Black Hole from Germany? That was a brilliant machine.
It got shoved into the pit by the Belgian Philipper II.
Black holes discs were pretty useless once flipped, there was no device to cope with inversion.
No, I know what happened then. I mean what has happened to the machine and the team since the event.
They stopped last year and sold the robot. Nothing is known of them or the robot since then.
Too bad... The machine was great.
Damn that is a shame!
Was....also a shame that their great performance last year will never be shown!
What performance Paul??
European Championships....one of the missing Extreme Episodes that the BBC have never shown except on BBC Choice....
If you want to know...theres a review in the Missing Extreme Episodes section of this very forum, by some nobody or other!
