ive got a servo powerd robot and it is slow but how do i make it faster?
You can 'speed hack' the servos by rearranging the gears/removing some of them, depending which servo you have - this reduces the torque though. Bigger wheels are another solution but geared motors are really the best way to go for more speed and power these days, rather than servos.
speed hacked servos are fun but they aren't reliable, i had a pair of speed hacked servos die after using them for 15 minuites. was a fun 15 minuites though :) . on my 2 run all day bots electric eel 3.5 and squidly didly (anyone who gets the reference is awesome) run on non speed hacked servos with big (60mm) wheels and are quite nippy on a 6v but slow enough for younger drivers to be able to control. apart from the wheels falling off atleast falling off atleast 2 dozen times an event they are pretty reliable, electric eel has run for atleast 2 and a half hours on the same pair of servos :)
well, i have managed to make my speed hacked servos more reliable, some 3d printed gears and spacers :proud:
