There's a reason it's sealed. You're not meant to get inside it. Don't bother playing with 240V AC electronics, that's a whole different ball game compared to hooking up a 9.6v nimh battery pack. Dump the power supply, learn your lesson and buy a new one.

^ what he said. If you don't know how to get inside then you should definitely not go inside!

These type of power supplies generally contain no servicable parts.
However you may find that a local TV repair shop can look at it for you.
For the cost it would be cheeper to replace than repair.

Bearing in mind that you should't be messing around inside if it's anywhere near plugged in it may be fixable.
On the three 20a versions that we have managed to blow up, two have been the capacitors.
The shell is removable with a screw driver or maybe a torx fitting. the circuit board is fixed to the base with screws and you will see the big black capacitors. If they look like they've been subjected to heat then take a note of the type and size and go on the order some. Make sure you get the correct voltage and rating (which is all written on them). When they arrive de-solder the existing ones and fit the new ones. If it works fine, if it doesn't then throw it away. You'll find it's aboput a two pound fix.
DO NOT PLUG IT IN UNTIL YOU HAVE PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!!
It is quite simple but you need to make sure you fit it back together propely, it's not good enough to think it's ok. Take some photos before you take it apart so you can check. It's important because the equipment is built so no part can come into contact with the casing.
If you know an electrician, most should be able to cope with it if they are told what you want to do, so ask. If you are not confident once you have had a look, bring it to an event and I'll have a look at it for you.

to be honest, i dont want to go messing around with things like this. its best if i learn a lesson from it and just buy a new one :)
Re: how do you get into a Fusion 12v Power Supply?
I would look at getting on with short circuit protection or fit a fuse to the positive lead you are using that's rated towards the upper end of what the power supply will give. Either method should protect any accidents in the future.
