i need advice on what welder to buy :?: arc or mig (gasless) for mild steel and hardox at 2mm to 4mm thick.
Price range around £150, wont be using it a lot its just for repairs and 2mm thick box section frames.

could get a nice mig welder for that. get a gas one tho cos the gasless ones are rubbish. my opinion. :)
If its only for the odd bit of use id get an arc welder , there a bit rubbish but they do the job ok and there cheap. One thing. arc welders in particular have a nice habbit of blowing holes in steel less than about 2mm thick. last weekend i spent £20 on 1mm box section and my bloomin welder vaporized it, i ended up cutting out the frazzeled bits and bolting it :rofl: .
