Safety Link Questions
Hi All
As u probably know, at Barnsley, the cable connector on one of the bananna plug sockets on Pug snapped off after a fight and was soldered back on, but however, yesterday when I was about to test Pug on the cradle and put the end of the link into the bananna plug socket with the soldered cable, the cable snapped again. Im strongly thinking before Newcastle, I should go for a typical safety link like these ones http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/2-Pole_Power_Connectors.htmlhttp://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog...onnectors.html
Does anyone know which is the best out of the safety links to put in a FW? Also, can any of the power connectors match up with any of the safety links shown on the page? i.e. a 175a Power connector matching with a 175a power connector key?
Cheers

50A one will be fine
The only thing that limits you matching up different ratings of keys and connectors is the shape and size of the plastic housing.
Ive got about three of these kicking about my room that I dont use anymore. I use Deans connectors now for links. The last time I used one of the Anderson ones was back at the Eurochamps in 07, when Little Spinner kindly pulled it out with its spinning bar lol.
A couple of them are a bit beat up (small chips in the housing, insulation tape heat-shrunk over cuts in the main wire etc) but you can have one for Pug if you want. I wouldnt be able to mail it to you before the event though, so you may want to just get one from Technobots to fit it before the event.
That said, if Pug is only in whiteboards, thered probably be plenty of time to fit one on the Saturday morning

Safety Link Questions
OK Thanks, I also have another question as well, will any of the power connectors be able to be connected to the cables that were connected to the Bananna plug sockets?

Safety Link Questions
Oh, and another as well but this is mainly for Paul Cooper. Each cables leading to the bannana plug sockets on Pug are 2.5mm2 wire. Will the 50a power connector be able to be connected to those 2 cables so I can buy the 50a safety link to go with it?

Safety Link Questions
You will need to buy one of
50A Power Connector Red - Part No: 1210-002
and one of
50A Power Connector Key - Part No: 1210-010
You will need to strip the wires back from the banana plug sockets and solder them into the 50A connector pins.

Safety Link Questions
Liam, its exactly as Ed describes. All I can add is that the maximum cable size is 6mm2. I use a blow torch with a pencil flame to do the soldering but you can use a soldering iron of I would suggest 50W or higher. I also use silicone insulated cable as that withstands the heat from the soldering far better than PVC insulated.
