Speed 700 motor help
thought my robot was ready for event saturday but now i have a problem putting my attendance in jeopardy. found out by chance that one on my wheels was locked almost solid, must have happened in last testing. its very hard to turn the motor shaft by hand (usually easy). im guessing it has happened by shock? as i taped up the holes to stop any debris going in their.
can they be taken apart? im sure nothing got stuck in gears, so really unsure what has caused it. i only run the drive on a 12v nimh pack. i have no idea why it has almost seized and if i can repair it, but this was my spare so a bit stuck.

sounds like the magnets might of cracked and might be stressing on the armiture

what would cause that? shock? i only used it for a total of 1 minute, and about 30 seconds of that was testing the disk on a old chassis. can they be dismantled?

Hi Craig, i see the bits you mean, i had a go but they dont seem to lift/move. i dont want to mark it up too much as i want to sent it back to graupner to see what they think

adrian if you dont want to take it apart urself and it is stiff to turn without being attached to the gearbox, then send it back.
Put it next to your ear and give it a shake... if it rattles.. its broke :) As kenny said it is more then likely your magnets have cracked. or the main shaft might of bent depending on your gearbox design.
