Pressure vessel standards
This is an advisory note on some work the FRA governing body will be working on at a conveniant time in 2008.
The FRA governing body will be looking at pressure vessel certification in line with the EC pressure vessel directive.
This will be carried out in two parts.
1, CO2 vessels
2, Buffer tanks.
This thread is for initial discussion.
The advice bit
For you to consider changing out with new any CO2 containers (fire extuingishers)that are over five years old.
CO2 containers have been seen recently at an event that date from as far back as 1992.
Is this good practise considering the duty we ask for from these vessels?
Pressure vessel standards
Would it be possible for someone to just put a clear point on home-made buffer tanks etc please? It was explained well to us at the Tech Check course today, but i think it needs to be clear for roboteers. I would write it, but ill probably get the wording wrong and mislead people.:uhoh:
Pressure vessel standards
The correct wording is in the rules:
8.15.
Pneumatic components manufactured from 1 June 2002 shall carry a CE mark.
Pneumatic components €˜custom made€™ since 30 May 2002 shall carry a label indicating
their non-conformity with the €˜Pressure Equipment Directive€™ and their non-availability for
sale. Components manufactured prior to 30 May 2002 are not necessarily required to
carry a CE mark.

Hi Just want to clarify the situation with my main CO2 supply. I got the extinguisher from ebay last year (cannot remember the company but they sold loads of them) but so far have not used it. I has got on it a date 04/97 and re-filled 2007 Can I use this extinguisher in the robot or is it too old? Tks Chris
Pressure vessel standards
It should have a 10 year test, then test every 5 years. If there is any damage to the bottle other than paint scratches it should not be filled.
Pressure vessel standards
Hi Kane. I seem to remember it was advertised as tested and re-filled but it only says refilled 2007 on the bottle
Pressure vessel standards
Retest should be stamped around the neck of the bottle.

There is something there but I cannot make out what it says
