Wiring a battle switch
hi all
some of you may know i am going to build a crusher fw, i bought from technobots a battle switch and a relay to use the contriol for the crusher. im not ready to wire them yet but just need to know how, can anyone help? more details on each can be found below
http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/info_3400_021.htmlhttp://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/info_3400_021.html

the relay is the 24v one

Youll want two relays Alex.... one for extending the linear actuator and one for retracting it.....configured like this ...http://www.teamonslaught.fsnet.co.uk/DPST.gifhttp://www.teamonslaught.fsnet.co.uk/DPST.gif

Wiring a battle switch
Im probably going down the Battleswitch path for controlling my crusher too and Im after the FWD-OFF-BACK control for my actuator; would I not be able to achieve that with just the battleswitch on its own? Or do I need the two relays as Woody described, as well as the battleswitch? (Ive never fully grasped the concept of how many/what relays Id need for controlling different weapons)
Cheers,
Jamie

Wiring a battle switch
If you use a simple ON / OFF function R/C Switch ....like I believe the Battle switch to be .... then you wont be able to give the crusher the OFF function.
Youll only be able to get FWD ( extend to crush ) when you activate the Battle Switch and REV ( retract and return to the ready position ) when the Battle switch is OFF.
You really want a Robbe - Duo - Switch unit #83192000 or similar to activate some larger amperage relays.
You can then get your required 3 functions.

Wiring a battle switch
Oh! ....and youll also want a couple of microswitches to act as limit switches.
Im happy to knock up a wiring diagram if anybody requires one.

yes please, i dont know if you know woody but the battleswitch has 4 screw terminals if you could could you include which wire goes to which terminal?
thanks alex

Wiring a battle switch
Id welcome a diagram as well (cheers Woody!!) but having just had a quick glimpse on Technobots, Im toying with the idea of getting a Dimension Engineering Syren 10 Motor Controller (http://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Dimension_Engineering_Controllers _34.htmlhttp://www.technobots.co.uk/acatalog...gineering_Cont rollers_34.html) to control the linear actuator since, as far as Im aware, its a relatively low current-drawing actuator (2A I was told when I bought it) and that controller adds up to a similar cost to the Robbe Duo unit plus relays.
So I might give the motor controller a try and see how it performs
EDIT: Any luck getting an actuator for your crusher yet Alex?

Youll need to give me some idea of the notation on each of the four terminals.
NC - NO - BAT .....Etc.

If you want to run a motor with three options - forward, reverse and off - get an Electronize electronic switch from Technobots and make a 2 relay H bridge to go with it. The battle switch will only give you on and off.
