Hey,
It looks like axeadent will have to wait.Im going to build a simple clusterbot pusher to get some exsperiance.This is good cause i can drive one and my dad can drive one.Any objections to the name evolution......
Any recomendations on motors,batts ect........
They will be like mini storm 2s without the lifter......same sort of shape though.

dan, i can currently building the same, my advice is go with 2x 9.6v drills in each machine with some 75 or 100mm wheels. robochallenge are very good for drills,wheels and make some really nice motor mounts.
i dont know of any past or present robots called evolution you get some such as mine prodigy evolution but not just evolution.
the biggest advice i can give though is weight!! you want it strong, but also light, i have had a lot of trouble with weight on mine, try and use polypro for side and rear armour with a mild steel scoop (if your having one) and some small box section for the basic frame, i wouldnt mount your motors opposite though as it would need to be wide, which means more material and then more weight, i would make a chassis out of wood and mount one motor at front left and one at rear right, i havent tried it myself but it would be interesting to see how it drove with this configeration. (i think little hitter is setup like is) or someone elses.
also get your scoop as low to the ground as possible, with only half the weight and 2wd you need to get under other machines to stand a chance. if you want any close up of one of my machines let us know and i can drop you an email.
thats my advice, perhaps some of the more experianced can offer another configeration.

Putting the motors in opposite corners seems a bit odd at first sight, but works well. I was really convinced it was a viable way of setting up the drive at last years UK Champs when I saw how well Little Hitter moved around the arena. My first try at a feather, Throk!, presently just a box on wheels, uses this set up and seems very controllable and is pretty good in a straight line. Its certainly allowed the robot to be very compact.

I like the idea of a motor on each end.
They will be the exact same shape as storm 2.
I was thinking of having 6 drill motors in each half of the cluster and having HDPE as armour-i heard it is the lightest avalible.
It might sound OTT and overweight,but i think i MIGHT be able to squeezzzzzzzzzzeeee them in the weight limit.
I might need 6 to,as it weighs half of a normal feather.
Where can i get polypro?

Heh! Well, that list just scatches the surface really - Ive lost track of how many vinyl albums and CDs I have, but I suppose its the best part of 2,000, about three-quarters vinyl. Not that many by some peoples standards... Phil Collins? Er, well yes, I have his first two solo albums on vinyl and I still think the first one is quite good. Bloc Party are already mentally tagged for further investigation. Presently I seem to be getting into some of the Canadian Bands and artists that collaborate to form the Broken Social Scene, of whom Feist is one. Theres certain parallels with the Scottish bands that get together to make the Reindeer Section albums. Check out Son of Evil Reindeer...

i used to have something like 2500-3000 lps as well, and about 400 12 singles. Ive merged my collection with that of a fiend of mine who had even more than me, and we sold all the ones we had double. I bought a pinball machine from the proceeds. :)
Funny that.... people of our age do have a lot of vinyl/CDs but there again music stuff was better then :)
Well, there were no downloads back then, so if you wanted it you had to buy the physical media. Also I suppose music didnt have so much competition. No video tapes or DVDs when I was in my teens and no video games, computer hardware or mobile phones either - the dark ages! I dont know if music meant more or not, but popular music seemed to be part of the progress of popular culture - propelling it even. I dont think theres that sense of music driving forward into the future these days - pop culture progress seems to be measured by games console graphics and mobile phone technology.
