Changing motors
hi all
this post is sort of aimed at mike, but want other people of advice aswell.
at the moment i think ive got bosch 35s, but im not sure and i worked the speed out of my base 3.3mph. compared to other feathers at event its not quick
so would it be better to change to these wheel cair motors mike sells, which are apparntly 5mph?
or are there some better ones out there?
i want something that will work well on 21.6v and are easy to fix down...?
thanks alex

my only concern with drills is the length, but ill check to make sure im not wasting time:)
thanks alex

Alex ...The two drills are different.
As stated in the blurb ...one is an impact wrench.
So ...different gearboxes ...and more than likely different motors.

Changing motors
I would suspect the motors will be the same but very unlikely that the gearboxes are the same. I once had a set of three power tools, a drill/jigsaw/circular saw. Each one had the same motor, and the circular saw had a perfect lightweight 6:1 spur gearbox that I now use in ploughbots lifter.

Changing motors
Hi Alex, if you want your machine to zip along the motors with gearbox I have will be too slow (and quite heavy). I am in the process of building a push bot with them as an experiment, should be at the XFM.
Using drill motors gives you the option of thicker armour or a weapon!
The length of drill motors is not a problem you just stagger the wheel layout, several feathers have this arrangement.
Mike.

if u can spare about 1kg per motor scooter motors are very powerful, there powering my axe

Changing motors
If you can afford 1Kg per motor, forget scooter motors, put in a pair of Team Whyachi TWA40 gearboxes with Astroflight C40s, 1.7Kg for the pair inc. W238-150-44H wheels... 3 machine screws to hold each down, wheel keyed straight onto shaft, 14mph and more than enough power for any feather... Job done!!

are they powerful enough for an axe so i dont have to fiddle with gear ratios?
