Buddy Box
Hey guys,
Im in the process of pimping my transmitter and Im looking at rigging up a buddy box system but I dunno if the way Ive got in mind would work.
The transmitter is a http://www.freewebs.com/kc-robotics/tx_blue.jpgSkysport 6. I plan to use the 5th channel for the buddy box.
My idea so far is to:
Replace the Ch.5 switch with one of these:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=DC%20Power%20Connecto rs&ModuleNo=1407&doy=16m10http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...Connectors&Mod uleNo=1407&doy=16m10
Then connect another one of those sockects to the existing Ch.5 switch and mount in/on a buddy box.
Then run a lead with suitable adapters between each socket and thatll connect the switch to the transmitter again.
Does anyone know whether this would work? Ive seen buddy boxes connected to the trainer facility but what way does that connect up? Does that not involve having the trainer switch on?
Any info much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jamie

That idea should work fine.
Just keep in mind that the jack could potentially activate the channel upon disconnection.
Buddy boxes wired to the trainer facility have either used a rewired connector or another transmitter/ complicated electronics.

So as long as I make sure that both receiver power and transmitter power are off before disconnecting the jack, I should be fine?
Cool :)

Its not important to turn the transmitter off, but the robot should be safe before pulling the plug to prevent a nasty suprise.

Ok doke
Forgot to add one thing - the Ch.5 switch at the moment is ON/OFF (effectively FWD/BACK when a servo is plugged in). Could I replace it with a FWD/OFF/BACK switch so that for example, the servo would stop mid-postion, without having to alter the electronic side of the transmitter?
Thanks for the replies btw :)

you would have to use C6 and find appropiate resistors to put on switch. I altered my SS6 on C5 in the same way you have stated and it seems ok (although never actually used it, would you trust david with Merlins flipper?)

Lol :)
Id prefer to keep Ch.6 as the twiddly thing, so Ill probably just stick to the forward/back on Ch.5, and just use it as an on/off.
Cheers guys
