Electronize Speedos - anyone whos had a problem
thought id start this thread up, as a few weeks ago i was given a 30 amp ex relay version to fix. after fixing it i thought id fancy some for my self for my feather weight, thinking they where meaty enough at 30 amp continous i loaded each with two drill motors. one controller is now toast.
relay only turns on for one direction and in that direction if you make it do any work that relay starts chattering, unlike the one i fixed it seems to be the micro.
im just interested im knowing if many other ppl have had problems in the past.
im now considering getting some 15amp versions which i think i can mod easily to give greater power output with reliablity - would be interested im knowing ppls thoughts on this mod

Have you checked for interfearance? If the motor will just go forward with no control- that ushually means the relay has welded itself shut, try giving it a tap with a screwdriver or somthing just to shake it loose- if that doesnt work replace the relay. I had that problem a few times with my old 15amp CPUs.
Ive got one 30amp exsternal relay- bought from brand new, When i wired it up (correctly) it did nothing- dead, Never got it working- should probably send it back to electronise,
Any idea what could be wrong with it? Batterys were at full 24v, Motor works- r/c was fine (tested with the other speedo and a servo)

do the relays click on /off at all , one should always be on at a time.
with regards to the 15amp speedos im just about to set about designing a booster circuit add on to bring it up to 30- 40 amps
Electronize Speedos - anyone whos had a problem
My 30 A Electronize only goes flat out in one direction when it is connected to the receiver. It does nothing at all when the speedo is unplugged from the receiver. The other Electronize still works perfectly.
Does this sound like a relay problem or something else? Thanks.

Ye, Id say it is a relay problem. As Dave has said above the relay has probably stuck in the one direction. Try giving it a tap to loosen it or buy another relay.

id suggest that if you have no speed control (ie, it runns flat out in one direction) it has nothing to do with a stuck relay, as this would give you full speed control, but not reverse direction. If it is either full power or off, it is a frequency generation problem, either in the electronize, or reciever. swap the 2 controllers around so the your reciever runs the other (working) channel on the problem controller. If you problem then moves to the other controller, you have a reciever problem, if it stays with the same controller you need to send the controller back to electronize. This is usually pretty cheap to fix.
best of luck Phillip.

it cost me £10 a controller to get mine overhauled.

Philip....... Just in case you need confirmation.....Id say that James is correct.

by the way Phillip, make sure you give electronize a call first. they will give you a returns number that you should then put in with it when you send it back.

Thankyou all. I will give them an e before I post them the faulty controller back to Electronize. I have swapped the controller to different positions on the receiver and removed the gyro and mixer to make sure that the fault is in the speedo.
I am grateful to you for taking the time to share your experience.
