Carter motors

Ive got a pair of Carter motors (similar to Framcos?). They are a left and right pair. How do the motors come off the gearboxes? Theres an obvious pair of bolts but when they are removed, they still seem extremely firmly joined together. Is a whack with the hammer the order of the day or am I missing something?

No. The motor is fixed to a rectangular gearbox. The fixing bolts are on one side. there are no more bolts externally that could be holding it.
