NiCad batteries
Im thinking of using NiCad batteries in the new Kronic to save on weight. As Im new to Nicads I was wondering if anyone could recommend what Ah of battery I would need to run Kronic on 24V? Im gonna be running 2x24V bosch motors with a roboteq controller.
Can I get away with 3Ah, or would I need to go to 6Ah or 9Ah battery packs?
As usual, any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Dave, for a robot with a pair of Bosch 750s and a current limited roboteq controller you could get away with 9Ah of cells, (3 x 3Ah packs). That would just about serve you for a fight - if you want some contingency Id look at 4 x 3Ah packs.

We use Nicads in Mute, we run at 9AH (3 x 3AH technobots packs). Mutes uses lynch motors and speedos set to 140amp (280amp total). We can run for about 7 to 8 minutes flat out. The main thing to remember is dont exceed 100amps per nicad pack.

I used 30v 9ah Nicads on 2 Bosch 750s towards the end of the last season, and found that they had plenty of capacity for a 5 minute fight. In fact I rarely used much more than 1/3rd of their capacity.
I was using 4QD NCC60s as the motor controllers and not Roboteq, and that will reduce the peak current absorbed. However I was using 30v and not 24v.
I guess that the answer will be decided by how much pushing you will do. I believe that other peoples experience of operating two Bosch 750s at 24v with a Roboteq controller is that there is a minimum battery duration for 9ah of 7 minutes.
