Try and get in touch with team Thor....theyve just made a set up for some 1s robot...not sure of the company they used, but worth sending them an e-mail.

Im afraid you are a little misinformed Glenn.
Vulcanising metal wheels is a trick used by the Storm team(and several others) to get a solid wheel, with serious grip, and not losing the rubber every fight or get spinning rims in a solid tyre.
The rubber around that wheel can be Vulcanolan or simular trademarked names.
However the company involved does not want it publisized, as they dont want to be inundated with requests and so on, because its not profitable for them. If you want it youll have to ask some of the teams who use such technology, and see if theyll tell you. When I asked, I was told to keep it hush. Soz :-(
http://www.dycem.com/http://www.dycem.com/ Have a look on there site i think that merlin uses it
Lee (Gman)
Dycem is quite good as an antweight tyre but i found its not really up to even featherweights. I could be wrong maybe merlin does use it but I would theink they need to replace it every 1 or 2 fights which would be very expensive.
Dycem itsself is very very good for traction. You litterally cannot pull a piece of it along if its on a desk with only a little weight on it. The only thing that apparently is better is the stuff rock climbers use on the botom of their boots.
Although dycem is good for antweights The Blue Lint Rollers are better. Its true they dont give as much traction but they are adhesive and so are much better as so little traction can be gained from 150g.

we are sponsored by Dycem. We dont use dycem on merlin, we only use it on the ants. We would have never done as well without it. Its good for stoping things sliding around, but its not tough enough for wheels on anything over a couple of kilos.
Vulkollan is a brand name for a special kind of soft polyurethane- rubber. The material is also available under other names as asmaprene, etc.
A company in austria have coated the new wheels of mechaniac II with this stuff.
I have found a company who can coat aluminium wheels with vulcalon:
Bonded Elastomers Ltd
9-10, Maylan Rd Earlstrees North Ind Est
Corby Northamptonshire
NN17 4DR
The person you want to speak to is called Richard and he can be contacted on 01536 269181.
You have to supply them with the wheel, and I think prices are arround £10 - £15 per tyre (Depending on the size).
