A very delayed robot... White Dwarf

Well, we're finally here. After more than a year, my first robot is on the verge of (hopefully!) stepping into the arena.

With the help of my good friends, Adam Hamilton & Andy Russell, White Dwarf has been born.

With the well thought out weight distribution and the reliable 775 motors and Saturn 16 gearboxes behind the drive, the robot is designed to be easy to drive & highly maneuverable. It also has a modular weapons bay, with lifting forks (shameless Panic Attack tribute) and a grabber, powered by a slightly modified linear actuator and for ER events, a 'General' (Robogames MW) inspired vertical drum spinner.

It has been a long journey, with the robot initially ready to compete at Insomnia 2017, due to dropouts I would've been entered into the main competition, but unfortunately, due to wiring issues and being unable to attend for the 2nd day of the tournament due to travel/accommodation issues, I had to leave the robot with friends, and eventually to be shipped back to me.

The robot works very reliably now. There will be a few tweaks for Insomnia (if I get picked) I have a few anti vertical front attachments designed in Fusion 360 so they are the priority. But here are many exciting plans for future upgrades... new front armour, weapons, brushless motors... exciting! The pros of having a modular design!
