motor controller help.
http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/r...psdvplpp97.png
im after some help. I have a 24v dc motor that runs on 2 x 12v 32ah sla's wired in series. The motor is geared to run at 6mph
flat out. I need to control the motor prefably with a single hand operation on a lever beside me or mounted to steering wheel like paddle controls. I need forwards and backwards, i dont even need speed control really. I have been looking at mobility scooter controllers but cant find anything suitable and at a good price., i also looked at 24v scooter controllers but alot dont have reverse or a suitable throttle.
Wonder if anyone had any recommendations, its for my bumper car so one hand on steering and 1 hand to control motor, or a foot! Got a budget of £70. Thanks

I had a similar project recently restoring a ride on electric train, which ran on 24V and had roughly the same top speed. I used one of these 40A Controllers. I unsoldered the potentiometer and added wires so I could put the controller out of the cab.
They're remarkably good considering the price; had it pulling at the limit of what the motor could take for a lap of the track, and the controller was still barely warm. There's also a 60A version for much the same price.
For forward and reverse, I just used a large switch to change the motor wires over; for this kinda thing you don't need or really want to go from forward to reverse in a hurry, so having a switch is not a bad option. You could set it up so that the potentiometer was controlled via a foot pedal, and then have a switch to reverse the motor direction on the dashboard.

That looks ideal thanks for that.
