As above really, after building something wacky. Are we allowed to use a prop for propulsion if it's inside the bowells of the robot? I'm not sure, found this in the rules though so am guessing no?

Propellers or fans used to push or suck the robot to the floor for better grip are used on ants, as long as there are no safety issues I don't think the EOs would have a problem. at least not for feathers,
I have been looking at doing just this in one of my future feathers.
We probably wouldn't have too much of an issue with this at Robo Challenge. We would however recommend sending us some details of what you plan on doing before it's built to make sure that we are happy with the safety before it turns up to an event. Anything different like this is very encouraged.

Yeah erm well have been flying planes on and off for a while so familiar with the setups and so on (being safe etc.). I'm looking to building something prop/fan powered but it would be in the vein of Thrust 2 and so on in that the fan / prop would sit deep inside a chamber or tube and be well away from fingers. The robot will still run on wheels and is likely to have a front and back axles with car type steering at the front. We started a plywood mockup today. I know it won't have much pushing power but would hopefully be fast and fun to watch. Not sure of weaponry, quite possible just a rammer to start with. Have a link to show you my fan/prop in a tube etc.

I don't see a problem when using ducted fans way inside the armor.
But I don't see any advantage except a fun value as an airhockeypuck.
