when i design robot for live robot events 2014, i try to mix the best number of robots shapes from live events to cover into design that noone has seen before even moddify the robots that i finds on internet. sometime it can be hard as it still looks like a robot that is on a live tour, why is this?
I thinks it's because the best elements of a combat robot have, over the years, been worked out and used in the live event robots for reliability and to give them the best chance to win. Is has resulted in a lot of similar robots unfortunately, but that's the way the game has gone.
This is something I have huge problems with. I want to build stuff just because it looks fun to drive, but then only have limited cash for the running gear. So I think well if I'm gonna build something it has to be something that looks like it stands half a chance as it's the only robot I'll be building for the next few months etc.
Like Dave says (good name that) a lot of the wedge shapes and angled armor are highly used because they work well, the same with CO2 and spinners and invert-able chassis. All the robots are going to have to compete in a similar environment, so everyone's building to defend against similar weaponry and so on. If your looking for some inspiration, look at Craig Colias' threads and Google Mark Setrakian and some of his robots.
:) i found these toy's of combat robots which i had for about 14 years ago. i like the blue robot & should i build a heavyweight verson? I live in small village of woodton in norfolk but the name would be based on a near by town of bungay in suffolk as they also have a legane dog known as the black dog of bungay (to know more about the black dog of bungay, look on wiki or google) so what do you think?
