Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
Would just one Scorpion XXL v2 be able to run a 2 wheel drive bot using 12v argos drills? Or would I be better off getting 2x Electronize 15A/30A? I like the looks of the Scorpion XXL, but not sure if I will require 2 of them (as they are more expensive than the Electronize).
Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated :)
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
i haven't used them but from the spec the Scorpion XXL v2 will run 2 drills fine
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
The Scorpions are dual controllers, so designed for 2 motors that more independently.
They also have built in features like mixing, current limiting etc....
The Electronizes are basic single motor controllers, but rugged and cheap!
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
Even an XL would handle that setup. I run an XXL on 4 argos drills at 19.2v!
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
For this setup i'm planning on using 2 x 7.2v Nimh battery packs in series as the power source. Do you think 30A rated wire will do the job?
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
I should think so. Our machine is wired entirely with 30a cable, in places doubled up just to be sure. For 2 drills 30 amps should be... ample.
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
Does anybody know how long it usually takes to get one of these ESC's? I've ordered the Scorpion 2 months ago now and I'm still waiting. Starting to consider looking at other controllers as I'm getting tired of waiting ... :p
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
Email them and ask about it
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
Scorpion XXL finally arrived :) As far as a transmitter/receiver system for it, will I be able to use an old 27MHz one that I used with my RC car? Or will I have to buy a 2.4Ghz one? (for testing purposes).
Re: Scorpion XXL v2 Speed Controller
For testing at home and such, using an old 27MHz controller is fine. For entering a battle-legal robot at an event, you'll need to get yourself a 2.4Ghz set :)
