Rebuild double trouble help
So I dusted off double trouble my fw clusterbot which has hung on the garage wall for years and decided to rebuild it for the kids. I don't want to spend loads on it as its for the kids lol, got sum questions if anyone can help.
I need 2 cheap transmitters and recievers with failsafe, anyone recommend my cheapest option. I only have 2 br receivers now and they are in raging reality and k9.
Also do u think I can run 2 12v cordless drills with 100mm wheels on 2 x 7.2 Nimh packs on a sabertooth dual 12a for each robot or will I need a 25a dual.
What's the current rule on clusters when one half is immbolised.
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
that's what i'm running in scruffy and its running nicely (2x12v drills, sabertooth 12a and 100mm wheels)lol
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
What voltage/amp packs u running mate
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
I wouldn't bother with a sabretooth. Too easy to fry them. Look at the brushless converted controllers that the auzies have made. Dave has em in his 360 thread

im using a 2x7.2v in series (14.4v) and the packs are 3800mah but that pack is going in my 4x4bot and a 3000mah is going in my 2wd
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
Ok cheers, will look at that Gary, had a new faulty sabertooth once but haven't been a bad controller in my old fw's, one in k9 seems to work well, but these clusterbots being 6.6kg each tend to bounce off robochallenges arena roof when flipped so need something that can take that!

Re: Rebuild double trouble help
You can get those RadioLink Tx/Rx combos for £25, but you pay or what you get....
You can get DSM2 Rxs on eBay for around £6, just search for Orange Rx.
Sabertooth controllers have current limiting built in, so any spikes and they cut the power, in a 13.6kg bot the 12a model can give some juddery output when you're being aggressive, but since your robot is in 2 halves it should be fine.
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
i found those rx on ebay so will buy 2 of those, are their any tx a little better looking about lol,
i see i can get dx5e for about £45 each. But wondered if anything inbetween, whats the giant cod tx's, i have heard people talking about.
Re: Rebuild double trouble help
That's the Radiolink one.

Questionable reliability...... But can't argue with the price, plus they have built in mixing. Can't use OrangeRxs with them though.
