Hardox Equivelant
I've been looking into equivelants for 3mm Hardox and found this:
http://www.ajmarshall.com/RAEX.htm
Comes in at £246 + VAT for a 3000mm x 1500mm sheet so not too shabby in terms of cost either.
Just looking at what cutting and delivery services they offer but I'd be interesting in knowing what people think of this as an equivalent and also whether if I went for the whole sheet if people would be interested in splitting the cost (works out to £41 + VAT + delivery + cutting charges for a 1000mm x 750mm sheet)
That said, first I'd appreciate some comments on whether it does appear to be an equivelant to Hardox?

Re: Hardox Equivelant
What about AR400 Steel, how does that compare?
Also the company that makes Hardox also appear to now make Armox, has anyone any experience of that?

Re: Hardox Equivelant
Hi Andy,
As Jonny said, Weird mAlice is made from this, and as to whether it's any good, we reckon it is. Ours was also bought from A J Marshall but we had all the panels cut to size, so all we had to do was weld and drill them.
On paper both materials have the same yield, tensile and elongation. The chemical content of the RAEX looks better than Hardox to my eyes, but that's just my opinion. At the end of the day they are both wear resistant steels, just different brand names.

If its the same as hardox 3.2mm weight and strength I would be interested in a few bits aswell.

Re: Hardox Equivelant
Been looking at the chemical composition of AR400 and RAEX 400 and they are vitually identical to Hardox 400 give or take a blob of Molybdenum.
Can be welded with E7018 rods according to the data sheets.
If you are short of someone to form a syndicate you can put me down for a panel.
