Actuator for claws
I have got some claws for my featherweight (thanks mattsdragons), and having got the robot working better I want to put them on. I need an actuator for this but am not too certain as to where to get one from and what one would be best. I am not much of an engineer so often need very basic guidance as to what I need to do. Any help would be welcome.
Thanks

Re: Actuator for claws
Not a problem, just a case of pick now
Just google electric actuator, either 12v or 24v and have a look around

Re: Actuator for claws
Have done a quick google and still not too sure. What stroke length do I need? I looked at the Gimson ones, they are about £50 to £60 - is that a fair price or can I get a fairly decent one for less? Also, if I choose to change the weapon, to perhaps a lifting arm, would I still be able to use the same actuator?

Re: Actuator for claws
Should be no reason why not, I used a 100mm stroke 24v one for the claws, but I would got for a longer one

Re: Actuator for claws
How much for the actuator and what size as we need to fit them into the robot? They may be a bit above our budget, however I am not too certain as to costs etc apart from the ones on the gimson site which are nowhere near as powerful. Are yours too powerful for a featherweight? Also we are running on about 16V is that enough?

Re: Actuator for claws
i have a modified one of those that Ed is selling, very good strong units if you alter the voltage it start to alter other things such as the force produced
