Armour Thickness

So I can get a shell made from submarine steel, I don't understand grades well, but I found this:
The steel has a yield strength of between 480 MPa and 620 Mpa and a Charpy toughness V, KCV at -60° C. of more than 50 J.
How thick would it need to be
a)To combat spinners such as 360
b)Against any other robot, axes and flippers?

I have no experience with robot combat as of yet, and I would value any advice.

probably about 5mm+?
i know spinners will go though 3mm

I remember the 3mm steel from another thread here, but submarine steel is suppossedly stronger, and I included measurements in my first psot, does anyone understand them enough to give a more exact thickness? The robot will have rounded corners and edges of course.

i think since its an unused (to my knowledge) material you will probably have to find a mediam between regular mild steel and hardox, make an edcuated guess.

I guess so, I'll have to find the measurements for hardox to compare.

EDIT:So Charpy toughness sub steel can be up to3X better, but MPa hardox is 2X. Next I'll find out what on earth that means!

EDIT 2:So my substeel bends more but is less brittle. Now I'm thinking 3.5ml sides with 4 ml vulnerable areas.

if you're still planning on having a pneumatic flipper you'll be lucky to get it in weight with 3.5mm steel

I guess, it's trial and error, I might have to drill holes.
