New FW- doorstop
thought id start a little thread about my new featherweight. Specs are currently:
2WD invertible wedge-rambot
each wheel powered via two speed 900 replica motors from ebay, 7.5:1 ratio on 125-130mm wheels
each motor running off of an electronize 30A esc
22.2v lipo (for now, anyway. see how it goes)
Spektrum radio gear
12mm HDPE chassis with 5mm polycarb armour
when there's anything meaningful to look at, ill get some pics up!

Re: New FW- doorstop
Remember the first ever ant i reeally saw was called doorstop. Was ages ago :)
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
wheels complete with tyres, gears and axles
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
they wheels look really good. Whats the axle getting fixed onto hdpe?
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
The axle/bolt will bolt into steel motor mounts, then the wheel and gear assembly will spin on that. The axle will be supported by hdpe on the other end but literally it will be slotting into a hole in the frame

Re: New FW- doorstop
good effort, can wait to see the motor in situ and all working
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
completed motor/wheel mounts. what kind of grease do people use on these types of gears? also, am i right in thinking that at the moment it all seems a little stiff but the gears will settle into each other?
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
That looks pretty sweet. Looks like it'll have some great accelleration. Are those ESCs gonna be enough do you think?
-
Re: New FW- doorstop
Open gears like that I don't think you want to grease (any one else confirm?) They'll just pick up loads of crap, but I'd lube the other moving parts.
Also, are they TWO Speed 900 per wheel!? Have you not seen 540, Bonx and other TWO 900 motor'd bots! They're ballistic!

Re: New FW- doorstop
We will see with regards to the ESC! I hope so, it's 666w per motor. Can't afford new ESCs anyway in terms of space, weight and (of course!) cost.
They are the speed 900 replicas from eBay but could be changed out for real ones in future.
