Many thanks to everyone! Very much so. The fire was a result of pulling too much current through the radio wires when the main power disconnected. I've still got the crispy wires somewhere...

Looks very good, well done! Ah, but which version of Talkie are we talking about? Definitely looks like the Series 2 version, just needs a light on it :P

With the end of the year coming up with only one, perhaps two events left for me, here is a round-up of Team Kaizen's performance for the last year. Jibril has easily been the most active robot...

Sounds like good progress, can't wait to see what the arena and Nessie will look like when they are finished.

That was what I meant by overdrawing. Given the motor mentioned, it is likely to be quite low draw anyway, good to know. Plotting intensifies :D

All of my spinners run 180 or 210 mah batteries and can complete multiple fights. 180mah is enough capacity and normally enough draw except for larger spinners may struggle with current PLAs...

Extreme S.T.E.M - Jibril, The Honey Badger and Ikari The S.T.E.M event was interesting. Nice laid back atmosphere but it was getting a bit confusing over which fight was due when. Anyway, the main...

Jibril does pull as well under low acceleration as well. Think Azriel does as well. I would try driving it on a piece of plywood or something to see what happens then. Uneven contact along the...

For spinners, you want the higher capacity or you run the risk of overdrawing the battery or running out during the fight. Looks damn nice, can't wait to see it at the next event.

Ocracoke replied to a thread Arena hazards? in Antweights
I guess they were trying to make it more grungy for Series 3 at the time but with all the palaver with the production at the time, things had to change in Series 4.

We've not followed the 50% rule for a long time even in AWS arenas, the rules were just never 'fixed' to reflect it.

Jibril Despite the rain, I did manage to get a test drive done at a friends house. The drive is OK but once again, the Scythe failed. It fired but didn't complete a full rotation. I couldn't...

Ocracoke replied to a thread Arena hazards? in Antweights
Sounds intriguing, I'd like to see the sketch. The 50% drop off thing I thought only applied to arenas being used for AWS (it is one of the reasons why the BotFest one doesn't meet the criterion for...

Jibril The drive is sorted, the Scythe gearbox is pretty much back together and the Scythe has been smoothed a bit to lighten it. With any luck, I might even get to test the robot before the event...

That depends on how able you are to use Fusion or a similar CAD program and wherever you are comfortable doing that. If you feel confident in using a CAD program to design your robot, cool but...
