So if you saw my hello message you know I am new to this by which I mean "Roboteering"
I decided about a month ago I was going to finally make a stab at building a robot and at the same time I saw the Haynes manual. If I believed in fate I would say that's what it was, but that's not very scientific and what's more likely is; I was looking forward to the new series, day dreaming and of course its perfect timing to launch a book. So after reading the manual in an evening I made a basic list of things I would need to see if I liked this new hobby before spending too much money.
To start .. a Transmitter and Receiver, an ESC and a couple of motors.
I would have loved to buy a big brand device but I saw a bargain I could not refuse in the Amazon refurb depot that had to be worth a punt. Picked up a FlySky FS-i6 and matched 6 channel receiver for £32! I see very mixed reviews but specs look OK and at that price not much lost if its not up to the job.
Thought it best to stick to a recommended ESC so a Sabertooth 2x12 R/C is on its way from Robotshop £60.
Tomorrow I hit the local Argos for a couple of motors(drills) for £20 each
With cables and fixings I think i will be able to get a mobile unit without weapons up and running for £150-175.
This will allow me to learn a few basics. While I work on my designs.
Cheers for now
