      Information
Tough As Nails (also known as TAN) is a Dutch heavyweight that was built by Jeroen Van Der Loo in 2002. It was designed and built as a 2002 Graduation project and was very uniquely built as a "Big horizontal crusher" as stated by the team and was also the first machine in history to use Hardox as armour. The design of Tough As Nails has never been copied by other roboteers and is also fun to watch, it's favourite tactic is to grab an opponent and drag it into the pit. Tough As Nails has done well in robot competitions across the Netherlands and UK. It reached the Semi-Finals of the UK Seventh series of Robot Wars beating Panic Attack on the way before being beaten by Bulldog Breed in the Semi-Finals, reached the semi-finals of the 3rd World Championships losing to Storm 2, it won the European Championships twice in a row from 2003-2004, reached the finals of the 2005 & 2006 UK Championships and also won the International special battle against Storm 2 and Gravity which was held within the 2011 UK Championships held live at the O2 arena in London.
