    Some people use paint ball bottles or similar but you will have to make up your own adapter to a standard CO2 nut for filling up at events.

    We use standard paintball bottles with equaly standard on/off valves in our feathers, not the pin valved bottles.
    So that part ain't a problem, any reasonable paintball shop should have such bottles/valves handy.

    And yes, the tread is different from full size bottles.
    But nothing that can't be solved with an own filling hose. (equaly handy to refill your small bottle at home for testing purposes)
