Thread: Removable Links with an attempted modular design

    In that sort of design, you would need 3 links I think but as far as I recall with regards to the rules, the links have to be adjacent to each other... why couldn't you tape them together so they go in and out as one unit?

    Unless the batteries are different voltages, there is not much point in having separate lipo packs; they are not likely to become faulty and if they do, it probably means a lipo fire that will stop the match in any case. Extra links and extra wiring just creates complexity, more weight and more failure points. Its better to have one good quality Lipo, heavy wiring and a reliable link. As Einstein said, “Make things as simple as possible, but not simpler".

    A) You would need 3 adjacent links but B) wouldn't you want one of those lipo batteries powering BOTH motors in the eventuality one fails? You might be counted out for not having one wheel working in tank style driving, whereas if the second lipo went - your drive would stop & you could say you gave your all.
