Thread: Hunting for 900s

  1. #1
Im looking for a speed 900 motor (or equivalent) as the fake ones i'm using at the moment are a bit naff and i'm now out of spares. Sadly, so far I haven't found any made by graupner and it's not even listed on their website any more so I presume it's now discontinued (correct me if i'm wrong!).
There's a few alternatives people are mentioning on the web (mostly model boat forums) and I was wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts on them?

    The MFA Torpedo 800/850
    http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/...mfa1114_1.html
the 800 has a similar rpm and the 850 has a higher rpm, but only mentions being run at 12v. No mention of stall current, but max efficiency current seems similar to original speed 900

    The CEM900T
    http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/...og/cem900.html
seems to have a lower rpm and less powerful, but mentions an operating range of up to 18v (might not mean its any different to the MFA motors though). I think the fakes i'm using atm have similar specs to these as they seem to spin at a similar rpm and current.

    LOC Speed 900 BB torque
    http://www.quartel.nl/webshop/produc...php?id=LOC6373
Closest in specs to original i've found, but not found it on any other websites so doesn't seem to be well known like the other two (would have thought other rc hobby companies would have started stocking it if it was a good graupner replacement). Not sure what delivery times will be like from oversea but can't imagine it would be to bad from there.

So any thoughts / experience? or any one know of a better source? Thought it would be better to get another opinion before I buy a load of unknown motors (and i'm sure others are looking for speed 900s too)
    Thanks

I have two genuine S900s I have no need of, however you'd have to make me a stellar offer to part them from their gearboxes since they become worthless without the motors
