Evening all, just started a new invertible heavy, just wanted to get abit of an understanding on the links with it, as the rules state it has to have a link on both sides (top and underneath).. why is this?.. as most heavys will only have one access. The top will be clear, so will be able to tell the top from the bottom easily so will this pass having just the one link access on the top?

They will know which side it is usually, the issue is: if the link is on the bottom, how would they remove it?. They put it on both sides, so it can be accessed if its on either side. Most flippers, for example are mainly used on way up, and if they're upside down, they can be re-righted with a good shove from an arena marshal, but invertible robots tend to be a blocky shape and so require much more effort to right by hand.

Removable links dont have to be on the top and bottom specifically, they just need to be accessible in any drivable orientation.

Thus if you put the link on the side, and it can be accessed regardless of inversion - it should pass tech check.

The simple reason is you dont want a robot driving into you as you try to invert it. With non invertible robots its less an issue because they cant drive into you as you approach (but still you should try to make the link accessible to make it as safe as possible).
