battle kit gearboxes

Has anyone seen or used any battlekit parts, looking at the gearboxes for ampflow motors, they look simple and fairly cheap at 130usd as I already have 4 amplflows waiting for there new home, might use a set for my new heavy. Any thoughts

I have not used them they look a good option, but for Team Saint the wheels are a little on the small side.
I'm using these in Gabriel at the moment as a temporary solution. http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/NPC-T74.html
they seem to work OK.
I would give the Battlekit units a try, dose the motor pinion sprocket come with the kit?

I've seen few robots using them on Robogames. My impression is that they are a little bit fragile for the current demands. Although on an event without spinners they might be a good choice.

We (RioBotz) used NPC's T64 on our last overhead-twack bot Anubis (2005), one per side. On both, the first gear that is machined on the rotor axle stripped, one on the first fight and the other on the second fight. So my advice is go easy on the reversals.

At the end we converted Anubis into a high power segway.

I like the simplicity of the design, and the fact the parts are just available of the shelf

Those are obviously good things.

If you tight on money it is possible to do a similar drivetrain using 1/4" thick square aluminum profiles, chains and sproket. You will just need a drill press (or really steady hands),a hack saw, a coarse file and patience.
