Yo. I could probably sort you out with some gearbox plates/similar. Can do milling and turning so shafts and bearing fits etc are not a problem.

Thank you for all the replies, I realised that the fabrication place had done a really nice job on the heavy shell and didn't want to ruin it with cheap wheel chair motors lol. I've been looking to make some gearboxes based around a two stage reduction with 200mm wheels and something like ampflows. Whilst I sorted it all out and got it made somehow thought I'd have a go with the daft wooden robot lol.
Interesting choice to go with wood. It's certainly got the advantages of lightness, cheapness and being very easy to work with.
Question is, what to call it? It's a shame Splinter is already taken!
Yeah, I'm gradually getting the serious one sorted as the months go by but really wanted a go at fighting a heavy so thought I'd have a go. That and the fact I've never really seen a wooden heavy kicking about lol.
Quick update, spent some time today getting the weird chassis solid and together. Is fairly strong and have also drilled ready for wheelchair motors. Want to weigh it before I do anything else. There will be a corresponding roof and beefy wheel guards with a hammery thing on each end hopefully. Plan is to finish over the next few weeks.
Did some more to the motorise pallet lol. It's going in weird directions but going somewhere gradually none-the-less. Need a speedo! or two lol
Well really want to get to some events so got a beetle going again. Still have various motorized food tins but given they get shredded by anything spinny I re-visited the box. Voila. One hour later and its driving great. Bit of adhesive, tape and some adamantium extrusion and she's ready to go. My naff building ways know no bounds. Taking it to Wolverhampton on the 30th Aug to see if there's any spinners. Want to see if it stands up to them.
I'll be there with two (possibly 3) spinners including the new Inertia which is looking for something to test against
Lol I've opened a tin of worms now...
Keep meaning to ask if I'm alright to order a load of your beetle wheels? Like say five pairs or so?
I'll be taking at least 2 spinners as well.
