Has anyone else noticed that when you try to edit a post that the spinner icon just sits there spinning away without doing anything? Tried to do this on a few different computers and none appear to work.

Has anyone else noticed that when you try to edit a post that the spinner icon just sits there spinning away without doing anything? Tried to do this on a few different computers and none appear to work.
Yeah I've just tried editing a post and I'm also having this problem.
Also I can't upload pictures using "insert image" button - the screen just fades to white. It's been like this for a few days.
Anyone have any idea if this might ever get fixed? I'm having the same problem with editing and video tags. Image tags are OK as imgur can add them automatically.
Yeah I had the exact same issue a couple of weeks back, I think they'll sort it soon
I've e-mailed the FRA to see if I can get a response.
I'm having the same issue too, I tried going on the contact page to let them know but not sure if its gone through as i had an "Invalid Redirect URL: https:..www.google.com/" error so fingers crossed it goes through. Quoting and multi Quoting does not work either and when you preview your post in the advanced reply page, it wipes what you have written. Hope it gets fixed soon!
Yes, good shout to email the FRA. I can't even change any details on my profile anymore. Or put goofy emoticons in my posts. :(
hah, well I guess I can do it via typing them out! ^ But nonetheless I really can't update my profile!
Yea, I can edit some stuff on my profile. Currently trying to work out how to change my signature at the end of each post lol
Hm, I just gave it a shot. My signature should be there if it's working properly
Ah yes it is xD How the hell did you do that? lol
You can edit your signature by the User CP panel, Settings in the yellow bar > My settings > Edit signature. I've just updated mine.
Haha :D It's a bit fiddly right now because the website's problems have knackered it but, PSA I guess for anyone else looking to update their signature:
It's in settings (top left tab) > Edit Signature ( On the Left column) > Then just type whatever into that box.
If you try to preview your signature it will delete itself, similar to previewing a post in Go Advanced. But you can check your siggy by saving it and doing back into Edit Signature again. Should be above the text box thing.
Or you can just do what Ocracoke said.^
Also I absolutely did not just get my lefts and my rights mixed up!:uhoh:Dammit forums now I can't hide my embarrassment because I can't edit! Noooo
Thank you both :) I don't seem to have it :( I have "My Profile > Edit Profile, Edit Profile Picture, Edit Avatar, Profile Privacy" and that's it other than the my account stuff. Is there a minimum posts or something? although I'm pretty sure I'm in to the 100s by now......
Does this link not take you there? http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/prof...=editsignature
Hmm, it says "Sorry, you are not permitted to have a signature." :( I think i broke something.....
Never mind...... I'm a massive pleb.....
I didn't realise my paid membership had ran out....Now i have it lol
Thanks for your help! Hope the bugs in the site are sorted soon :)
Sorry Just wanted to see if it worked lol Thanks again everyone!
Did you hear anything back from the FRA, Ocracoke? It does feel like the forum is a bit... neglected. It's not very heavily used and there's no mod/admin presence as far as I can see.
If there's no real interest from the FRA to maintain it then I rather fear that the whole thing will just stop working one day in the not too distant future. It's a bit sad, as I think this is a much better medium to keep track of discussions and of people's work than facebook and the like. Unfortunately it seems most people prefer facebook to message boards and so I guess that's where they've all gone. :(
I can totally understand there's not much point maintaining the forum if it's not being used much, but it's still a shame.
Afraid not. I don't have a Facebook account myself to send them a message on there either but I think it might be worth messaging them there to see if they can look at the issues here.
The FRA have a facebook page but there's no option to contact them there. I've posted on the "Unofficial Robot Wars" group to see if anyone knows the deal, that seems to be the closest thing to a replacement for the FRA forum.
Did anything come of your post in URW, Sam?
It would be a real shame for the forums to fall into rack and ruin. There is still so much useful information hosted here.
The consensus was that Kane Aston was the guy in charge, he was tagged by someone else in the post but didn't respond... Not sure where to go from there, possibly he isn't much of a FB user either.
If I see Kane at Portsmouth next weekend, I'll see if I can mention it to him then.
There are issues with the forums:
- Uploading a file fades the background, but the dialog that is intended to appear never does. Checking in Developer Tools on Chrome, it is loading the fragments to do so, but also has the following markup in the returned payload; wonder if this is interfering?
- Editing a post does not load the posts content back in to the editor.Quote:

Would love if the FRA got a bit more love and needed admin attention tbh
It's a little sad to see the state of the forum now - for such a rich history (seriously, have you read some of the old threads, it's a treasure trove of info and fun little reads) it's sad to see how it's been neglected. Even updating the upcoming events section makes a difference, but that's not been done in over 18 months now...
Yea, I love this forum! I would help maintain things myself if I could. Love to see this on the Tapatalk app also because it's quite difficult on mobile :(
After slamming the Chrome debugger/console on, it seems a lot of the forums files are being 404'd as not found. I think something server wise has gone a bit awry.

Really is a shame, the FRA seems to have died a slow death from the guys in charge, they seem to so rarely do anything purely from the FRA side of things.
Sad times. :(
Forums generally have died off a lot over the last 5-10 years, which I personally think is a shame, but there's definitely still a place for them in niche areas like this.
It seems like the FRA needs to exist in some form, how else are the rules going to be kept harmonised between events?
The errors should be fixed now. There was a PHP version mismatch causing the issue.
If you encounter any problems, simply email info@fightingrobots.co.uk and try to include screenshots where possible.
Many thanks Kane, I've tried quickly editing a post and the image popup. They both now seem to work, will try more fully later.
And indeed, editing posts does seem to work now. :D
I've noticed this issue has cropped up again. I've e-mailed the FRA to see what can be done.
Hi Lucy, thanks for pointing this out. I've fixed the issue for now and will look into a more permanent solution.
Many thanks, I see it is working again.
