Radio sets
I'm looking for a new radio set with more features like inbuilt mixing, changing limits etc, but can't really afford a spectrum set. So was wondering what cheaper alternatives there are?
Heard https://www.amazon.co.uk/Walkera-Dev.../dp/B00OBB7WU0 were good but required flashing or something thing to make usable. Is it the best option? If so is this the correct process to make it work? http://www.hacksmods.com/2013/04/wal...ase-range-mod/
Thanks

The sets from frsky are good. Probably a little more than you were wanting to spend but I just recently picked up a couple taranis x9d and they are very capable in terms of what you can program them to do. I can't speak for the cheaper sets they sell but I suspect they will be of a similar quality.

We have been using one of the Turnigy 9X radios for a while, it has a lot of features and is still quite cheap.

I'm gonna pick one up and give it a go as I just noticed it's on sale at the moment.

Turns out the receiver that comes with the Evolution doesn't have PWM outputs (the TGY-iA6C) so I've had to order the TGY-iA6B V2 to interface easily with Rory's FeatherTwo ESC, typical.

ahh thats annnoying! but I do like the idea of console style transmitters, which is making the sale tempting! do they have trim and mixing?
-
Trim yes, mixing no.
It is very much with quadcopters in mind.

Now I am new to this 'game' but I think the Flysky i6 and Turnigy version are the same. Now I have seen that the i6 can have custom firmware loaded that unlocks all 10 channels. It also has mixing and two way comms for sensors, rpm volts etc. This thread is talking about mixing on planes but I would imagine the principal is the same. I bought one just 'cause it was mega cheap at £32 for TX and RX

I found the Evolution has voltage telemetry which can be configured to sound an alarm should the voltage drop too low. Super handy for FPV drone guys and for us so we don't push the battery too hard.
